Nice Little Trick for your VB Indicator

Posted in Footprint® Chart, User Tips by tharnett on November 11, 2010

If you use the Volume Breakdown indicator, like so many people do, here is a nice little trick worth knowing. Typically the volume breakdown is just meant to show some sort of graph, but many times it is valuable to actually see the values associated within a delta histogram. Well now you can.

Follow these steps:
1) First add a Volume Breakdown indicator to a chart. If you don’t know how to add an indicator, see this FAQ.
2) Next, open the add indicator window again and this time choose Footprint Bar Statistic (FPBS). This indicator shows the raw numbers for all sorts of Footprint information.
3) Specify “Total Delta” and in the lower left corner of the add indicator window is an area to specify which pane you want to add it to. Choose the VB pane. Click Add and Close.

Your chart should look something like the bottom of the screenshot below. Ultimately you could add other statistics as well. Have fun!
